Triskel tattoos etc.
Some kind of triskele tattoo designs done this weekend. Draft on paper, then vectorisation with Inkscape.
Des sortes de motifs de tatouages de triskels faits ce WE. Brouillon sur papier, puis vectorisation avec Inkscape.
A so-called tribal triskel one for a start:

And a hand drawn triple triquetra (well, actually, it's one triquetra interlaced with a double one), because it turned out to be almost impossible to do it on Inkscape without the sudden urge to smash one's own head onto the keyboard.
Et un triquetra dessiné à la main (en fait, un triquetra simple entrelacé avec un double), parce qu'il s'est avéré presque impossible de faire ça avec Inkscape sans être pris d'une furieuse envie de taper sa tête contre le clavier.

Triskel (tattoo-inspired) - done
Ayé, fini le triskel façon tatouage avec bidules biseautés et entourage étrange \o/. Je me rends compte que la forme du truc est assez bizarre, hmm, si c'était fait pour être un vrai tatouage ça pourrait peut-être aller sur une cuisse/fesse, mais là c'est juste fait pour rester sur un bout de papier.
D'ailleurs, la texture du papier rend pas super au scan, j'ai essayé de flouter un peu, c'est 'moins pire' mais pas encore génial.

Yeah, I finished the tattoo like triskel with beveled things and strange borders \o/. Now I realize that the shape of the drawing is kinda weird, hm, if it was made to be a real tattoo I suppose it could go on a thigh/bottom, but so far it's only supposed to be on a piece of paper, so no excuse.
A piece of paper with grain, even... The scan looked awfully grainy, I tried to blur a little the image, without much success.

Triskel WIP
Encore un truc inspiré par certains tatouages - je crois que je suis devenue fan de l'effet biseauté, c'est grave docteur ? D'un autre côté je maitrise pas encore trop les ombrages sur ce genre de chose, mais je me dis qu'a force ...
Je me suis amusée à prendre en photo les étapes. C'est un "travail en court" vu qu'il manque encore le fond du truc, je ferais un scan propre quand j'aurais fini.
Once again something inspired by some tattoos - and I think I'm a fan of the bevel effect :) Anyway, I'm still not very good at shading those kind of things, but maybe if I keep trying...
I took some steps in photo. It's still a Work In Progress as the background is missing, I'll do a clean scan when I finish it.

Oiseau biomecha?
C'est le genre de truc qui arrive quand on passe trop de temps à regarder des galeries de tatouages ... on mélange tout et fait n'importe quoi. Pauvre petite hirondelle :)
Biomecha bird? - This is the kind of thing that happens after looking a tattoos galleries for too long ... It ends with a mix of everything, creating a nonsensical image. Poor little swallow :)

Geek tattoo again (today: Ubuntu)
A Debian tattoo yesterday, an Ubuntu one today (because the guy that make me start the linux distro tattoos serie is ubuntu user). I went for a celtic tattoo style this time, I think it suited the subject. The wide flat areas were made to be filled with celtic knots ;).
And guess what: Knotwork in Inkscape is a PITA. I don't blame inkscape, I suppose it'll be the same problem with another software, but still ... ouch.
This time I realised it was much easier to add a "Based on the Ubuntu logo" message on the image rather than a too long and too weird disclaimer.
Encore un tatouage de geek (aujourd'hui : Ubuntu).
Un tatouage Debian hier, un Ubuntu aujourd'hui (parce que celui qui m'a fait commencer cette série de tatouages linux est utilisateur ubuntu). J'ai fait ça dans un style celtique, je pense que ça se marie assez bien avec le logo. Les grandes zones unies étaient faites pour être remplies avec des entrelacs celtiques :).
Et sinon, les entrelacs dans Inkscape, c'est la m****. Enfin, c'est pas tellement la faute d'inkscape, j'imagine que ça serait pareil avec un autre logiciel, mais bon .... Pfiou.
Et cette fois à la place d'un message trop long j'ai juste mis un "Basé sur le logo Ubuntu", c'est plus simple.

Debian tattoos ... / Tatouages Debian ...
I don't remember why, but a friend told me I wouldn't be able to do some Linux distro related tattoo designs. So of course I anwsered something like "sure I can!". Yeah, reverse psychology works that well on me /o\.
Anyway, this was fun to do.
So, for your enjoyment (or not) here's an attempt at a tribal Debian tattoo design. It was the 1st time I attempted shading a tribal tat, it took me 2 hours to shade it (w/ 2B and 5B pencil), but it was much funnier than just vectorising it in black on Inkscape. (But I did the inkscape version anyway.)
And yes, I added a stupid looking disclaimer, but after reading once a girl saying that she got tattooed one of the 1st google image result of her search without searching more, I felt that I needed to add that kind of message. I don't want to see someone embarrassed because (s)he looks like a debian geek because of an uncomplete search ;)
Je ne me souviens plus pourquoi, mais un ami m'a sorti un truc genre "Même pas cap' de dessiner un tatouage relatif à Linux". Ce à quoi j'ai évidément répondu "Bien sûr que si !". Et oui, la psychologie inverse, ça marche vachement bien sur moi /o\.
De toute façon c'était marrant à faire.
Donc, pour votre plus grand plaisir (ou pas), voilà un essai de tatouage Debian tribal. C'est ma première tentative d'ombrage d'un tatouage tribal, ça m'a pris 2h (aux crayons 2B et 5B), mais c'était bien plus sympa que de se contenter de vectoriser le tout en noir sous Inkscape. (Mais j'ai fait une version inkscape quand même).
Et oui, j'ai ajouté une note à la con en anglais, mais après avoir lu une fille racontant qu'elle s'était fait tatouer un des 1er résultats de sa recherche d'image google sans chercher plus, je me suis dit que je devais ajouter ce genre de message. Pour éviter qu'une personne se retrouve involontairement a avoir l'air un geek debian à cause d'une recherche incomplète ;)

Tribal tattoos
Several years ago I drew tribal tattoo designs everyday. It was just a way to while away the time. Well, it still is, but I like tribal stuff a little less, so I do less of it.
So ... both designs are under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike licence. If someone like them enough to get one inked, I'll be pleased to see a photo, or even just a comment, but of course it's not compulsory. :)
Il y a quelques années, je dessinais des motifs de tatouages tribaux tous les jours. C'était juste pour tuer le temps. Ça l'est toujours, mais j'aime un peu moins les trucs style tribal donc j'en fait moins.

tattoo & rant
A kind of techno-tattoo. Ok, I admit, it's an old one, but I still like it and I never published it before. It's dual licenced under the Art Libre licence and the Creative-Commons Attribution Share-Alike 2.0 licence. (Choose the licence you prefer). There's just a small optional addition to this licences : if one day one of you were to decide to get that inked, you are NOT required to get the licence name and the blog link inked too :D. (How generous I am ...)
Une espèce de tatouage techno truc. Ok, ça date un peu, mais je l'aime bien, et je crois bien ne l'avoir jamais publié encore. C'est distribué sous double licence Art Libre et Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike. (Choisissez votre licence préférée). Il y a juste une petite modification optionnelle : Si un jour quelqu'un décidait de ce faire tatouer ce truc (j'y crois pas trop mais bon), vous n'êtes PAS obligé d'encrer aussi le nom de la licence et le lien vers le blog (Comment je suis trop gentille ... krr krrr)

Firefox devs and gecko devs, please stop mucking up my browser! I had the bad idea to update my version of xulrunner just a few days before the release of that firefox3, and of course now my browser (epiphany-gecko so far) suffers from the same behavior problem as firefox. GRRRRRRRRRRR.
Dear devs, YOU ARE NOT MY MOTHER AND EVEN IF YOU WERE i'M OVER 18. So please, don't decide for me which https websites I can go to and which https websites I can't.
If I want to look at a website with a bad certificate, I'm ok to receive a little message saying "untrusted certificate", but don't forbid me to go there. And no, I don't want to set a damn exception. I just want a "I don't give a shit about that self-signed certificate, now stop butting in and let me do what I want" button. And I want it for yesterday. Or before.
This is a big regression, and if it affected only Firefox3 I wouldn't care, but it impacts all browsers using gecko :'(
